"Marie-Antoinette" Pouch

In the silence of her Temple prison cell, Marie-Antoinette found a final refuge in the gentleness of thread. Her hands, once accustomed to silk and ribbons, found solace in embroidering this ivory pouch, like a final trace of beauty on the threshold of tragedy.
She composed a delicate trophy upon it: a harp, symbol of grace and harmony, surrounded by pansies, cornflowers, and roses—flowers of fidelity and remembrance. These motifs, intertwined with a fine garland of leaves, bear witness to a soul that remained sensitive to the light, even in the shadows of her captivity.
Each stitch is a prayer, each shade an echo of hope. This pouch pays tribute to the Queen the embroiderer, to her art as well as her dignity.

• Design dimensions: 23 × 15 cm (width × height) — (9 × 5.9 in)

• Canvas dimensions: 36 × 29 cm (width × height) — (14.2 × 11.4 in)

• Antique Monofil: 18 count (approx. 7.1 sts/cm) — very fine grain, ideal for petit point.

Complete kit includes:

• The motif is printed with precision onto the canvas mesh, then verified and touched up by hand in our workshop. Each color is thus perfectly positioned to offer a clear design, faithful to the original and intuitive to embroider, stitch by stitch.
