A Story Born in Paris

Annie Bouquet was founded in Paris in 1978 at a time when the great tradition of French canvas embroidery was in need of a new voice. The city had long been home to extraordinary needlepoint ateliers — workshops where skilled artists painted canvases of remarkable beauty — but modernity was pushing many of those workshops to the margins.

Annie Bouquet was founded with a clear intention: to keep that tradition alive, and to bring it forward into the contemporary world with designs that felt fresh, joyful, and deeply personal.

The Atelier

Our workshop is a place of color, creativity, and quiet concentration. Artists work at large tables surrounded by trays of paint, baskets of canvas, and sketches pinned to the wall. Each canvas begins with a design drawn by hand, developed through revision and refinement until it achieves the right balance of beauty and stitchability.

We believe that a good canvas should feel like a collaboration — the artist sets the vision, and the stitcher brings it to life.

Our Design Philosophy

Annie Bouquet designs are rooted in the visual culture of France: the formal gardens, the market flowers, the ceramic tiles, the architectural details, the light of Provence and the elegance of Paris. We want our canvases to feel alive — to have the quality of something seen and loved, translated into paint and thread.

Who Stitches Our Canvases?

Our customers span generations and continents. Some are experienced needlepointers who come to us for designs that challenge and inspire them. Others are complete beginners — drawn in by the beauty of a particular canvas. If that's you, read our beginner's guide to needlepoint to get started. Many stitchers discover that the craft becomes an essential part of their daily self-care routine.

A Living Tradition

The needlepoint tradition that Annie Bouquet carries forward is a living craft, practiced by hundreds of thousands of people around the world who find in it something increasingly rare: the pleasure of making something by hand, at human speed, one stitch at a time.

We invite you to be part of it. Browse our collection and find the canvas that will become your next project — and perhaps your next heirloom.
