Our History

Annie Bouquet, one of the last female cartoon painters in France, has dedicated her life to the art of tapestry. Since 1969, she has been creating and publishing cartoons (drawings) for petit point tapestries, thus perpetuating a centuries-old tradition.

Her career began with a passion for drawing, inherited from her father and grandfather. After studying advertising graphics, she joined the company "Friedberger - Broderies Russes" as a painter and designer.

In 1978, she founded "Tapisserie de France," a company dedicated to the creation and reproduction of tapestries. Her workshop, located at 7 rue des Moulins in Paris, has become a reference for textile art lovers, attracting visitors from all over the world.

Annie Bouquet draws her inspiration from the history of French decorative art, from medieval times to Art Deco. Her hand-painted creations are crafted with precision and attention to detail that reflect her expertise and passion for this art.

Today, "Tapisserie de France" continues to offer embroidery works, preserving a large collection of antique documents from the greatest houses of past centuries. Annie Bouquet remains an emblematic figure of French tapestry, contributing to the preservation and transmission of this artistic heritage.

For the past ten years, his daughter Mylène Austruy has joined the family adventure. With the same passion for tapestry, she actively participates in the evolution and modernization of the workshop while preserving its authenticity.
